Tiling Sydney

The right tiling scope begins before choosing a grout colour. Share the space, tile selection and intended use so preparation, layout, edges and adjoining finishes can be discussed together.

Define the finish you want

Send the tile size, product details and a reference for the layout. Patterns, borders, large formats and small mosaics involve different setting-out and cutting decisions. Include niches, steps, corners and trims in the discussion.

Check what the tiles will sit on

An existing wall or floor may need preparation before tiles are installed. Ask what the quote assumes about flatness, soundness and existing coverings, and how any concealed issues found during removal will be handled.

Agree on supply and handover

Clarify who supplies tiles, adhesive, grout and trims, and how spare tiles will be retained. Ask for the expected use restrictions after installation and the cleaning guidance for the selected finish.

What to discuss in your scope

  • Bathroom, laundry and kitchen tiling enquiries
  • Interior floor and wall tiling
  • Outdoor tiled surfaces
  • Tile replacement and finish coordination

What can affect the quote?

A useful quote is based on the condition of the property and the agreed work. These details can make a difference:

  • Tile material, format and layout complexity
  • Surface preparation and removal of existing finishes
  • Area, edge details and working access

Damage discovered during opening-up

One tile replacement revealed hidden timber damage

A customer asked Ellis to replace one tile beside a bath. Opening the wall revealed decayed timber behind the tiles, changing the scope of the repair.

A clear repair quote starts with the condition beneath the tiles, as well as the finish you can see.

Questions about this service

Can I supply my own tiles?

Include the product details and quantities in your enquiry so suitability, delivery and responsibility for supply can be agreed before work is booked.

Is the cheapest square-metre rate the best comparison?

Compare the complete scope. A rate may exclude removal, preparation, waterproofing, trims, disposal or complicated cuts, all of which can change the total job.
